Subtle Mind

I found after listening to our CD, I find the Subtle Mind exercise to be harder than the Loving Kindness exercise. Loving Kindness seems to be more laid back then the Subtle Mind exercise. I really had to focus on my breathing and really listen to even get to a point where it seemed like it was starting to work. I think spiritual wellness is connected to mental and physical wellness. I know when I am spiritually low I do not feel well or can not concentrate, but, when I feel spiritually fit, I feel physically better and mentally sharp.

Loving Kindness

I believe these exercises are always beneficial I think. This one was a unique one. By trying to take on someone else's suffering and dismissing it through our own heart and sending the love back out and hoping it can relieve some of the other people's suffering. Like sending out good vibes and hoping they are picked up and internalized by those they are intended for. I would recommend this exercise to anyone who wants to experience a different type of help. I think the concept of "mental workout" is to get your mind and heart ready to accept the suffering so it can be turned around into love and kindness. I think this exercise would be an excellent way to cure the ills of the world if we could use it on a global scale. I liked this exercise.

Unit 3 blog

My well being I would say is about a 4. I am suffering from an illness that does not allow me to physically be well most of the time. My physical well being is about a 4 because of my illness. My spiritual well being is I would say a 9. I always keep my spirits and spirituality up and positive, I have to to try and get well. Psychologically I would say a 9. I use meditation and deep breathing, sometimes mental imagery to keep myself in a very positive frame of mind. I feel I have too much to fight for to just give in or give up. My goal In all three areas is to stay positive and keep balance and fight my hardest. Like I said I meditate several times a day, I have also joined a gym and go daily and work with a trainer to do whats best and what I am physically able to do. I hope to get more physically in shape. The relaxation exercise was great. I like this guy, even my cat fell asleep listening to him. I did an experiment. As I followed his directions I had a pulse oximeter on my finger and the exercise lowered my heart rate by 15 beats a minute. That was great.

Welcome and Journey on relaxation

Hello Everyone, Welcome to my blog. I have only done this once before for another class at Kaplan. I think this will be a fun part of this class and we will learn a lot about Creating Wellness and each other. We will more than likely make new friends some of which will last a lifetime. This seem a great way to express yourself and get some constructive feed back and support.

The Journey on Relaxation was very good, its late here and I almost fell asleep he got me so relaxed listening to his voice. That gentleman's voice was so conducive to relaxation that he could read a grocery list and make you relax. I would like to find out who he is and see if he has a cd to listen to. What a great exercise.
